I despise Flat Rates.
They do not benefit anyone and penalize more than benefit you.
Chances are very good you're reading this only because you are a discriminating builder / enthusiast / craftsperson / gearhead who recognizes old-style craftsmanship and wants the very best outcome for your project. You should not be charged the same as the guy who chucks his road grime-covered transmission pan into a box when you took a half hour to clean yours first or sent a new one.
Due to:
- the extremely varied nature and composition of metals compatible with powder coating
- the enormous span of projects ranging from automotive and motorcycle parts to man cave displays to wall art and everything in between
- differences in brand new versus well used, antique, greasy, badly modified or beat up metals they demand different treatment
and
- the fact that no two custom color schemes are exactly alike (intentional, because I'm an artist too) ...
... it is impossible to compile a firm Price List and be fair to anyone.

My labor is billed in as little as 3-minute increments, timed by task.

A few photographs of your parts -- especially close ups of damage / dings / dents / chipped fins / etc. -- are extremely helpful. Closer shots versus those from a few feet away allow me to give you the most accurate estimate possible in advance of inspecting the parts personally.

- The cleaner the part is when it arrives here and the less prep work I have to do, the cheaper your bill will be.
- Any cleaning, blasting, disassembly, etc., you do yourself can save you money.
- I charge $55.00 per hour regardless of the nature of the work being performed. **
- You will be billed in as little as 3-minute increments depending on the task I'm doing.
- You are charged for time I spend actually fondling your metal, nothing more and nothing less.
** Excessive cleaning / blasting is billed at $110.00 per hour
** Fabrication / welding is billed at $110.00 per hour
** Before any discount you may be entitled to is applied (see Special Discounts below)
Your final price will be based on these factors:
1. condition
2. cleanliness
3. the number of color(s) you choose
4. restoration, repairs and bodywork that may be needed
5. the amount of custom masking / unmasking involved
6. actual materials costs
7. any discount you may be entitled to
and (rarely) other unforeseen factors (i.e., tough epoxy paint).
- Be aware that damage / repairs / cosmetic issues can be discovered which were not readily apparent until the existing finish was removed.
- Although careful deburring and casting defect cleanup is ALWAYS performed on every part (unless otherwise instructed), no major metal repairs will be undertaken without your prior knowledge, approval and authorization.
NO HIDDEN CHARGES!!!
Absent very extreme circumstances, you won't be surprised by a bill for 37 inches of tape, "rental" of seven silicone plugs, etc., like some other shops with seemingly cheap prices.
Everything needed to do your job from start to finish will be taken into consideration to the best of my ability when estimating your cost.
I charge extra for cleaning parts that show up filthy, welding, and fabrication ... and that's it.
PSC occasionally takes on select buffing / polishing jobs
but they are not my primary focus.

Please make sure the box you choose to ship your parts is large enough to return them in!
I use LOTS of packing materials (usually yours too) to protect your masterpiece for its return home.
Be certain your chosen box is at least 3 inches larger on all sides than the part(s) you're shipping to allow for sufficient return packaging and to qualify for insurance reimbursement if it is damaged on the way to PSC.
Fill up ALL empty space with packing materials / peanuts / paper / shreds / plastic grocery bags / etc. to protect your parts during shipment.
Pick up and shake your box; if you hear or feel anything moving, it needs more cushioning or it will probably get damaged in shipment.

PSC is out in the sticks in small-town Tennessee.
I don't have the luxury of a store on every corner.
Time spent searching the Dollar General's stash for a bigger box is billable to you, delays your shipment, and could be better served in the shop coating the next customer's parts.

COLOR MATCHING
If you want to match an existing color, providing a small actual paint sample applied to the same type of metal you are restoring (steel, aluminum, etc.) is the best, most accurate way to match it.
I've received small cans of paint, smalls painted the 'right' color, over-sprayed rubber and plastic body plugs, a "perfect match" box cutter, and even little pieces of label from the can where a paint drip ran down the side.
I'm not particular about what you send for color matching. I just want you to be happy with your powder color choices, save you as much money as possible, and get your finished parts back home to you as quickly as I can.
With over 6,500 colors to choose from, chances are very good that your exact desired color is already available. However, if it's not, my main supplier can prepare a custom formulation for you. (Please call for details.)
If your parts are to be coated in a special order powder that I do yet carry in stock, all special order powder costs MUST BE PAID FOR IN ADVANCE before I will order your powder.

If you are not using paypal, please include a check or U.S. Postal Service money order inside the box with your parts for at least half of the amount of your quote, $20 for materials and the funds necessary to ship your parts back to you when they are finished.
